Mission to Seafarers

Join us in serving the forgotten laborers of the seas coming to our ports

Pacific Coast Coalition for Seafarers

We partner with the Pacific Coast Coalition for Seafarers out of Portland, OR to make connections with ships, to gain ship access when in port, and to know about the needs that seafarers have, especially around access to essential items, food, and healthcare access. We also work to support the PCCS advocacy efforts calling for the rights and dignity of all seafarers.

Ditty Bag Ministry

Each Christmas we support seafarers through the compiling and distribution of handmade ditty bags that contain essential items and little gifts for Christmas. Our first year participating in this ministry we distributed over 50 ditty bags and we look forward to greatly increasing that number this year!

For more information on what is a ditty bag and what goes into making one, check out this link from the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia Mission to Seafarers in Seattle: https://www.mts-seattle.org/ditty-bags

Our Mission

To bear witness to the dignity of every seafarer as we strive to support them in seeking justice, equity, and safe labor practices. We do this through acknowledging their presence with us and supporting them when they call for help.

Did you know that 90% of the world's traded goods are shipped by sea? Seafarers of all ages and nationalities work an average of 80 hours a week (plus overtime) to bring us these necessary goods, and as an international population, they are often exploited. Work on board ships can be isolating, and seafarers are at a much higher risk for loneliness, depression, and suicide.
